Circle Saturday, March 13, 2010
on your new calendars!
Plan to attend the
912 PROJECT STATE CONVENTION
*Coalitions In Action*
Organized by 912 Project Salem and Oregon 912 Project (Portland area), the purpose of the Convention is to bring together members of all 912 groups across Oregon to organize and coordinate our efforts to change the composition of our local, state and federal legislatures in 2010 and beyond.
In less than a year, millions of Americans across our land have recommitted to taking their citizenship responsibilities seriously. Due to our combined voices and pressure at all levels, we have made a difference! The Obama Administration's agenda to "fundamentally transform our government" has been frustrated and slowed, giving time for more people to awaken. In Oregon, we are saying NO to the unnecessary taxes levied by our legislature. NOW IS THE TIME TO "TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL" BY UNITING TO GIVE OUR EFFORTS EVEN MORE COHESION AND CLOUT!
The day-long event will include:
--A time to remember our beginnings as a grassroots organization
--Introduction and comments by leaders of 912 groups in attendance
--Unveiling of a strategy to take back our State Legislature
--Tools and training presented by people experienced in mobilizing voters
--Breakout sessions focusing on distinct types of action
--Breakout sessions by counties/regions
--Formation of a 912 State Coalition with representatives from all groups
--Culminating message by a nationally known conservative speaker
The Convention will be held in Salem, at a place to be determined by the results of your responses to the Survey below. In addition to letting us know the likelihood of your attendance, it will give you opportunities to have input in planning, promotion, fundraising and implementation.
THIS IS YOUR CONVENTION!

BOARD BRIEFS
BOARD RETREAT - DEC. 11-13 The Board will be formulating plans, both short and long-term, for the coming year. Members are encouraged to forward any suggestions, issues, etc. that they would like to see the Board address. Please contact a Board member or use the Contact Us form on the website to communicate your ideas. ***************************
The Board agreed to partner with 912 Salem to organize and fund the 912 State Convention on March 13, 2010. Weekly meetings are being held and plans are progressing nicely. We need help in many areas, as you will see in the Survey. We're counting on our members to support this important effort to coalesce all the 912 groups in Oregon.
The Board voted to change the wording of the last phrase in our Mission Statement from "preserve the liberties granted therein." to "preserve our unalienable rights."
As noted above, we have secured a post office box and phone. Both will be included on all future publications, giving people two more means of communicating with us. Since Carol Tebo is in charge of the Convention registration, the P.O. Box will be used for that purpose, as well.
By our January general meeting we will have the capability of accepting credit cards for sales. We are also investigating an automated calling system for meeting and event reminders and urgent alerts.
FYI - We have earned $100 to date from sales of "Not Evil, Just Wrong" through our website.
Advertising campaign - An exciting advertising campaign to increase awareness of Oregon 912 is being pursued which would be aired on Glenn Beck's radio show once a day for six weeks.
The Board approved making available to members the DVD "Overview of America," an easily understood overview of the different degrees of governance produced by the John Birch Society, for a nominal cost of $1.
The Political Action Committee has renamed itself REAL - Rallies, Elections and Legislation. The former name was subject to misinterpretation.
GET OUT THE VOTE ON REFERENDUMS 66 & 67
Plans are almost in place for a concerted effort to ensure that the Tax Referendums we helped place on the January ballot are passed. Seven area offices are being set up and trainings will be conducted. Watch for email posts containing opportunities for you to help with phoning and canvassing. It's time to put our boots to the ground! This will be a great opportunity to hone our skills for the November 2010 elections!

VINDICATION FOR AL GORE PROTESTORS
|

| |
Several hundred people ignored storm warnings and gathered in Keller Fountain Park across from the Keller Auditorium where Al Gore was speaking on the evening of November 18. AFP made the event part of their national Hot Air Tour. National AFP President Tim Phillips was one of the featured speakers. We the Band, featuring our own Bob and Carla Pletka, provided patriotic music, including our rousing anthem "We Surround Them." Art Scevola shared passionate words while he and Bob displayed a Second Revolution flag purchased while in Washington D.C. Word has it the people in the auditorium could hear us! As attendees came out of the auditorium, the crowd migrated down to the street chanting messages of displeasure and displaying their signs. Counter protestors seemed genuinely surprised that so many people didn't see their cause the way they do.
As most of you already know, emails exposing the deliberate actions by so-called scientists to modify or ignore data counter to their predetermined "outcome" and to vilify and marginalize true scientists and any one else who disagreed with their findings have come to light. Mr. Gore has cancelled his trip to Copenhagen, and several of the leaders of this shameful conspiracy have resigned or are under investigation. Please keep pressure on our Senators to demand an investigation and to block any efforts to bring Cap and Trade legislation to the floor.
If you have a penchant for all the gory details (pun intended), follow this link: . The writers are pretty stunning in their brazenness!

CHRISTMAS SOCIAL
Sixty-seven of our 912 compatriots and guests enjoyed a relaxed evening of feasting and socializing. Christmas music provided by Bob Pletka added to the festive spirit. The Membership Committee was applauded by members for creating a lovely atmosphere, and everyone was grateful for the opportunity to meet and chat with members away from the stress and bustle of a meeting. Special thanks to Cheryl Curb for coordinating the arrangements. Everyone agreed that we should have future socials.
Art Scevola played a preliminary draft of a commercial for Oregon 912 read by Glenn Beck himself! Plans are being formulated to run the ad on Glenn's radio show once a day for 6 weeks sometime after the first of the year. If you would like to contribute to the funding of this project, please contact Art Scevola, 503-720-2687.
